- In a Christian context, stewardship refers to the responsibility that Christians have for the gifts that God has bestowed. In some settings, stewardship is operationalized as time, talent and treasure. An example of Stewardship is in Genisis chapter 2 vs 15. The verse teaches that humans (via stewardship) are responsible for nature. However humans are not permitted to directly control nature (domination). They have to go through God which is classed as dominion. Since the late 1970s, small groups of conservative Christians have challenged the primary view of stewardhsip, and urged various forms of Dominionism.
